Jamie Golombek reviews a situation where an individual over contributed to his TFSA. As you know, the TFSA is my favourite investment instrument these days. This is a good article to read, If like me, you make full use of this tool to provide supplemental retirement income. Lots of good reading here around how to handle an accidental over contribution… “If you accidentally over contribute, you can request that the CRA waive or cancel the tax, which it has the power to do if it can be established that the tax arose “as a consequence of a reasonable error” and the over contribution is withdrawn from the TFSA “without delay.””.
