Margaret Montgomery offers up an Excel spreadsheet on which to set up a monthly budget and track your expenses. It would probably have to be modified for individual use, and you would need to add up your expenses each month in some other manner, but it might be a good place to start if you want to kick off the new year by improving this aspect of your financial planning for the year. At very least it may give you an idea of the things you need to track.
