I am a failure. It’s true. I admit it. After declaring back in early February that I was committed to losing 30 pounds the net result is that I have added a couple. Not good. So where do I go from here? It is obvious that I have to commit to a plan, and that plan must include regular exercise and somewhat healthier eating habits. Although, my eating habits aren’t actually all that bad, when I think about it. I prepare well-balanced meals for us, don’t generally eat to excess, and only rarely eat junk food. But, perhaps the reduction in the number of calories I consume, along with a more rigorous fitness routine … or a fitness routine, period … is in order.
Fitness Club
Perhaps you can tell from the photo that I belong to a fitness club. Or maybe you have just assumed I dropped by one because I needed a photo for this piece. The truth is I do belong to a club, but the record must show that my attendance has become somewhat lax. And, somewhat lax is a bit of an understatement, okay, a gross understatement.
I was going on a regular basis before we left on our two-month trip to Europe. Sadly, since returning, my only direct interaction with the club is to watch them remove their biweekly fee from my bank account. It has definetly become a one-way relationship.
Needless to say, it is time to recommit to regular attendance, and to start following the plan my personal trainer laid out for me.
Personal Trainer
Personal trainer you say? Yes, it’s true. During the summer of 2015 I met weekly with a personal trainer. These training sessions were excellent both for the strenuous workout value they provided, and for the knowledge she imparted.
I have not lost contact with her, although indirectly as it may be. A good friend of mine who also works out at the club chats with her regularly about my attendance … or lack thereof. Apparently, my continued absence has provided both of them with considerable ongoing entertainment value as they discuss when I might reappear. It is time to return and take my revenge.
Personal Tracking Device
Because I am a bit of a nerd, okay, an enormous nerd, I know I will be more successful in my future efforts if I come up with a way to track them in great detail. Needless to say, I am about to learn just how useful my Apple Watch/iPhone combination can be in fulfilling my unnatural need for data.I will keep you posted. First up will probably be my “plan”.
The good news … for me anyway, I’m sure you don’t really give a sweet, rat’s patootie … is that the photo was taken yesterday after my first visit and workout since last August.
Enough with the self-depreciation. Onwards and upwards!

Well…in looking at the picture posted I can see that this fitness club endeavours to ” move a tee” . Seems perfect for the golfing set . All recent studies suggest that while exercise is important in many realms it will not let you lose weight in the order most of us wish. But…continue mobility…use it or lose it…in moderation.
